Migrant Employment Stories is a partnership project between Mercycare, the City of Stirling and RootsTV. This project seeks to enhance employment outcomes for migrants and assist employers’ appreciate the benefits of employee diversity in an organisation. Additional to these, the production process is training young people from local schools about the technical elements of film and media.
The project involves the production of digital resources that showcase the employment journey that newcomers’ undertake, highlighting the challenges and the successes and the strategies used by migrants to adapt to a new cultural setting. Additional short films will tell the employers perspective of a culturally diverse workforce and the benefits this brings to the workplace.
This project is a collaborative Initiative between the City of Stirling, Mercycare and RootsTV. The Mercycare Career Centre in Mirrabooka is a specialist service that assists people from a culturally linguistically diverse background access the employment market. RootsTV is a community organisation providing training for young people in digital media and a platform for community groups to connect with each other.
