Resources for Employers

These resources, collated from various sources, can help employers reap rich dividends from developing their diverse and inclusive workforce.

Recruitment

  • Australian Human Rights Commission has developed a step-by-step guide that employers can use to prevent discrimination in their recruitment process.  This guide can be used both by employers and recruitment agencies and covers the areas of deciding on the recruitment process, creating the job description, deciding on the application process, advertising the job, short-listing applicants, interviewing applicants, conducting the interview, gathering information after the interview and offering the job.
  • Developed by the Migration Council Australia’s Friendly Nation Initiative, the Australian Employers Guide to Hiring Refugees gives employers tips and advice on topics like Why hire refugees, How to find & hire refugees and successful recruitment and retention of refugees.

Post-Recruitment

  • Developed by the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council, the 10 Keys to an Inclusive Workplace offers ten ideas for making your organisation more culturally inclusive.
